Now more than ever, the front lines of national defense are deeply rooted in technology. Even in peacetime, the U.S. military’s most critical weapons systems, from aviation to missile defense systems, are facing complex cyber and electromagnetic threats that may hinder mission success.
Foreign governments and militaries are making greater use of cyber and electromagnetic operations to achieve their national and military objectives—from active spoofing of GPS to exploiting critical components in supply chains leveraged by the defense industrial base. The threat landscape is complex and constantly changing—and challenges within the nation's own defense acquisition system can sometimes impede the timely mitigation of vulnerabilities.
The FY21 National Defense Authorization Act (NDAA) directs the Department of Defense (DOD) and the intelligence community to strengthen cybersecurity for major weapon and defense communications systems—particularly for strategic systems that support DOD’s most important missions. Congress directed the changes in response to an urgent call from the U.S. Cyberspace Solarium Commission.
PacSec stands ready to help strengthen cybersecurity for DOD programs and missions. We help DOD:
